Answers to Group 2 questions: [stop here and go take the quiz if you haven’t done so]

1. one nickel and one half-dollar. The phrase, “both coins are not nickels.” seems to say neither coin is a nickel but that is not what it says. If it had been worded in an honest, non-devious way it would read, “It is not true to say both coins are nickels.”

2. “Normal”. The phrase, “one or more of their fingers is not on one hand” seems to be saying the person has missing fingers on one hand. It is actually saying, in an intentionally misleading way, that the person does not have all ten of their fingers on one hand, rather, they have 5 on each hand.

3. Barack Hussein Obama. The question seems to be asking who was the President in 2001, but it is not. Re-worded to be non-deceptive it would be, “What was Barack Hussein Obama’s name in 2001?”

4. Every year. The question is worded to play on our conditioning to think of New Years day as coming after Christmas, which it does chronologically, but not on a calendar.

5. Moses took no animals onto the ark. Noah did.

How many questions tricked you?…

none: you are a living Deceit Detector. (Double-D’s are always an asset).

one: you are an Effective Detective. (the good kind of ED)

three: uh oh, you are not watching for manipulative deception.

four: careful, you are putty in a politician’s hands.

five:  avoid political involvement until you learn to think clearly and stop making assumptions.
