No Black actors or actresses are nominated for an Academy Award this year.

A national protest effort is underway urging boycotts and public protests of this “lack of diversity”.

FACT: In the last 20 years 3 Blacks have won Best Actor; 1 Black has won Best Actress; 2 Blacks have won Best Supporting Actor; and 4 Blacks have won Best Supporting Actress. Those percentages are 20%; 5%; 10%; and 20% respectively. That is an average of 12.5% of the awards (10 out of 80 awards).

FACT: Blacks represent 12.6% of the United States population (10 out of 80 Americans.)

THE TRUTH: 12.5% of the protested Academy Awards have been won by 12.6% of the population.
