China recently surfaced one of their subs near a U.S. warship in the open waters of the S. China Sea. They then proceeded to conduct a missile firing drill-I repeat A DRILL- no actual missile was fired.

Also, in a related story, the U.S. Navy’s brand spanking new ship, the USS Milwaukee,  is [designed to be] a fast, agile, focused-mission platform designed for operation in near-shore environments yet capable of open-ocean operation. It is designed to defeat asymmetric “anti-access” threats such as mines, quiet diesel submarines and fast surface craft. Well, about that focused-mission platform… it broke down on its first trial run. It is being towed into port now. Warranty coverage for the $437,000,000.00 ship should cover the drive train against normal open-ocean operation, excluding towing charges. The ship designers should be ready to explain the lack of redundancy, which ALL MILITARY CRAFT require.

Could it be the Commander-in-Chief has cut military spending so deeply that cost-cutting measures are being implemented?

Maybe Obama can use the ship as a monument for his Presidential Library.

Here’s a video taken before she suffered catastrophic failure of all propulsion systems while underway.
