506,000 people voted for the Republican candidate for governor. There are 1.5-million registered Republicans in Louisiana. If folks voted faithful to their party that means 66% of Louisiana Republicans did not vote for the Republican candidate.

647,000 people voted for the Democrat candidate for governor, so, in a trend-defying shocker Louisiana will have a Democrat governor in January. There are 1.4-million registered Democrats in Louisiana. If these folks were faithful to their party that means 54% of Louisiana Democrats did not vote for the Democrat candidate.

Over half the voters in both parties did not vote for their candidate.

How those who actually went to the polls voted is not known. Maybe Republicans voted for the Democrat.

Why would they do that? Maybe because the Republican candidate was involved in a prostitution scandal.

Maybe character matters?
