Are these “math educators” telling this kid that it is necessary to estimate an answer before performing the necessary operations to get the answer?

This student was marked-down because the estimation was circumvented?

Is 70 the only “reasonable” answer to this problem? Would 69 or 71 be reasonable?

Are these “educators” actually telling students that to solve a problem like finding the difference between two numbers it is necessary to first round-off both numbers… then subtract the smaller rounded-off number from the larger to determine the “Reasonable Answer”? Once this operation is performed then the actual values can be used to perform the necessary operation (subtraction) to get the actual/mathematical/correct/reasonable solution?

No wonder Liberals love this program. Like their politics and morals it is all smoke and mirrors.
