2,403 Americans died and 1,178 were injured on a 1941 Sunday morning in beautiful Hawaii. Not in a volcano or a tsunami, but in a planned military assault by the Imperial forces of Japan.
Since no declaration of war was in-place, all American casualties were non-combatants!
One day later the United States declared war on Japan.
Four days later Germany and Italy declared war on the United States.
Thus began World War II for America.
