It looks like Mitt Romney has launched his non-campaign for the Senate seat being vacated by retiring (after 40 years) Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch.
When Mitt was mauled by Barry Soetoro in the 2012 election he did, at least, manage to get 72% of the votes in Utah.
Utah is Mormon. Hatch is Mormon. Mitt is a Massachusetts Mormon and one of his many homes is outside Salt Lake City. So there’s that.
Sen. Hatch says Romney will NOT run for the vacated seat, even though he said earlier that he would consider retiring if a good candidate popped-up… “like Mitt Romney”.
In most arenas you do not go-around talking about what you are NOT going to do, but in politics, apparently, if you are going to run for office you say you are NOT right-up to the moment when you officially announce you, in fact, ARE running.
You may remember some of the ugly things Mitt said publicly about soon-to-be President Trump back during the primaries. Mr. Romney has not announced a change in his opinion of President Trump, so we can assume the Democrats will not need to run anyone in Utah since Mitt, a devout Never Trump guy, is a shoo-in.
