The treaty has been around as an idea since Eisenhower was POTUS.

George H.W. Bush pushed it through in 1992, and 10-years later his son George W. put it into force.

Now Putin sees it as a chance to  gain a significant strategic advantage. He wants Vienna, the ruling body of the treaty, to let him fly over America at will.

Our President has the Constitutional authority to let Vladimir fly the friendly skies of America.

The commander of the U.S. Strategic Command said, “In addition to overflying military installations, Russian Open Skies flights can overfly and collect on Department of Defense and national security or national critical infrastructure. The vulnerability exposed by exploitation of this data and costs of mitigation are increasingly difficult to characterize.”

What Commander-in-Chief of a nation’s armed forces would assist the enemy in compiling up-to-date data on force strengths, locations, capabilities, etc.?

Lets’ hope it is not our current, or next, President!
